My approach is to make cognitive science and tools available to everyone. I co-founded the CoSCIE movement for this purpose.
I have extensive experience teaching cognitive science, directing experimental research laboratories, and collecting research data on cognitive phenomena. I am particularly interested in executive function and how screening measures must be appropriate for people of all cultures. My work with Arabic-speakers has led to my talk before the United Nations in Geneva, Heriot Watt University in Dubai, the University of Denver, the US Embassy in Cairo, and many other presentations.
I opened the first experimental psychology laboratory in Egypt and I am also the first researcher in Egypt to use eye-tracking in my research. I have travelled throughout Egypt and the middle east to advance the practice of cognitive psychology, and the understanding of neurodiversity, which is new to the region. I volunteer to teach students from Gaza who have lost their ability to attend college. I am a strong mentor having guided dozens of students and mentees in their research and learning journeys.
